Slot Machine Myth #1 - A slot machine that's had a lot of play with no big payouts is due to hit
We've all seen people standing to the sides watching their machine of choice with eagle-eyes while someone else is playing it, just so they can see how much that person wins or looses. Most people will think that if someone has just gone along and spent $100 on that machine without getting a large payout, they will be able to walk up, put a few dollars in and strike it big.
The fact is that every pull of the handle (or press of the button these days) is totally independent to every other pull of the handle, and no matter what you do, try or think, you have just as much chance of hitting a big payout on a machine that's been running hot as one that's been running cold. Slot machines aren't that smart. they don't have memories for what's been played through them like that, and every time the a new game is started the numbers are just as random as the game before, and the game before that, etc.
