Around the entrance - In times gone by casinos used to put the loose slots at the doors so that people coming past would see all the big winners, and come in to play. Sounds good doesn't it? People aren't going to move from somewhere that they are doing well at. This meant that people never made it to the tighter slots so the casinos ended up loosing out. With even mid-range slot machines around the entrance, people usually take more time to wander around and try their luck in more machines, which means bigger takings for the casinos.
